I'll give them a proper home

I'll take them I say! I will and I will organize them, pet them and even wear them!!!

Walking through Holt Renfrew today on their LAST DAY FOR 60% OFF SALE wasn't all that great.
First off, I didn't buy anything... boring I KNOW.
Secondly, it was a total mess.
Thirdy it was a total mess.
Fourthly (is this even a word?) I am just going with it... THEY treat their clothes like crap!!

The only appropriate reason I can think of for the debauchery of clothing I witnessed is that most people that shop at Holt Renfrew have so much money to throw around that they could care less if a $1000 dress is on the floor with people wearing salt filled Sorels are walking on it. Now reading this over I forgot to mention that this was at the Yorkdale location.. Bloor is a different story!

I would take care of those nice little designer items. I would. Organizing my items today like rolling my scarves neatly in their bin really made me realize how many I really have.

It's good to keep things clean and organized so you can really see what you have...I also like to take care of things I spend a lot of money on! Come on, who doesn't... well I could name a few people but won't mention names :)

Jewelry is one thing I cannot live without... jewelry boxes tend to hide your jewels and I feel like that defeats the purpose of jewelry. I believe that the purpose to is to show it off! It's an art form. My walls are quite bare except for the wall above my dresser that displays everything quite nicely! This idea of using the cork board to hang my jewelry was passed down to me from a friend from university. I loved that you could see all of her items and nothing was in knot or messy.

As for the CHALLENGE.... For a night on the town I have recently paired an older shirt from Club Monaco with a scoop back with these new high waisted silk pants I recently purchased from Aritzia, ON SALE! I wore them with heels and socks.... wish I had a pic :( Very 80's and VERY comfortable... I recommend!

Is it here yet?!?!?!?!

SPRING that is!!

GOD I am I the only one tired of this weather? Am I the only one who has exhausted their winter closet??? I've partied in plaid, I've rocked the fur... and it was all good and fun but now I am yeaaaarrrning for fresh! Along the lines of flowers and pastels :)

Every year when spring comes around I start a little list in my head of some pieces I want to add to my closet. This is actually more a constant list... who am I kidding here. I am however on a little bit of different wavelength. I am thinking MAYJAH pieces... my DREAM piece would be a Burberry Trench... that would be nice... and so functional!!!
Not in my student budget at the moment but one day...one day...In my student budget however I think I can fit a cool military style jacket like this one. I like the leather belt... it's a winner!
I've recently been inspired by a challenge that someone at lululemon blogged about. Their challenge was to wear a pair of the same pants everyday to show how functional they can be. I want to see how functional my closet can be! I am going to try my hardest to pull things from the bottom of drawers and the farthest items on my errr rolling rack of a closet.

I am challenging myself to go beyond my normal outfits and re-invent some old clothing! This is going to be interesting and hopefully rewarding!

p.s. got my first issue of my ELLE subscription!! It's the little piece of spring that will keep me going through these darn winter blues. THANK YOU SARA AND MATTY!!!!

A Year in Fashion

One of my coolest Christmas gifts this year was a book from boyfriend's brother and wife. It's a book about the love of my life! FASHION.

It is called "A Year In Fashion - A Look a Day" and its not just your ordinary fashion book where you look at the pictures and dream of owning the items. THIS book allows you to include some items of your own. There are lines that allow you to write down what you have in your closet that is inspired from the photo on the opposite page.

I love it because even though I know what I have in my closet the pictures sometimes make me think of of outfits I would have never otherwise put together! For some fashion inspiration I normally check out the Sartorialist, Vogue and other various fashion magazines. Sometimes I can find inspiration by just looking at the fashionable people around me!

This actually reminds me of another great Christmas gift I received: a years subscription to ELLE Canada!!! woot woot!!! Hopefully I will be involved in Canadian media within a couple of months (OMG this is coming up fast) so I need to be up to date on Canadian fashion FO SHO.

Pretty Big Fashion Pet Peeve #1

alright I took this picture on the subway being sure to not include this woman's face. I was however APPALLED that people still commit this fashion crime. I had to write about it... even weeks after I took the the pic.

EXHIBIT A

Can you spot it??? Can you spot the catastrophe people???? Those sewn on tags on jacket sleeves that describe the fabric: 100% Wool, Dry Clean Only... NEED TO BE REMOVED, I mean are meant to be removed... I really don't know why this bothers me so much but its just annoying. Do people that leave those tags on think that they belong on there? Do they believe that their outwear actually looks BETTER with that silly thing? GOSH

Pet Peeve #2

The stitch that people forget in a suit or skirt slit... it looks like a large X that holds the slit closed. It is meant to be opened!! Again are people just never informed about this or like the appearance of that stitch... I have not spotted anyone committing this crime but I know those criminals are out there... Picture to follow.

XO

oohoooo I just thought of Pet Peeve #3 UNOPENED POCKETS!! Being a large fan of pockets, seeing one unopened is like not taking a sip of your drink after a cheers, NOT KOSHER!!!
